The Town of Newmarket is a municipality in the heart of Region of York, represented by nine Councillors, including Mayor Tony Van Bynen and Regional Councillor John Taylor. Newmarket covers a 14.2 square miles (38.07 square kilometres) area in the heart of York Region, midway between downtown Toronto and Barrie. The Town of Newmarket is a multicultural community with a population of 84,000. This number is projected to grow to 98,000 by 2026.
