Ross spent a number of years as a leader in the Boy Scouts. He has the Cub, Scout & Rover Wood Badge and was awarded the Medal of Merit. He was the Assistant Regional Commissioner for the Northern Region. He was an archer and taught archery in the Scout organization including the first Northwest Territories Jamboree at Hay River.The Hallett family came from Crosby, Minnesota, U.S.A. to settle near Edgerton, Alberta east of Edmonton.
